The restaurant industry is dealing with two major problems. First and foremost is staffing. The restaurants can't find enough qualified employees. And turnover is very high. So their best employees are working a lot of overtime. And the restaurants have had to cut back on their hours. Some have even been forced to close one or two days a week. I believe this will be a long-term problem.
Restaurants are also dealing with massive inflation and supply chain disruptions. Many of the restaurants have been forced to raise their prices 25% - 100% over the past year. It is very unlikely their suppliers will lower their prices. Delivery charges have increased because of the high price of fuel. And it is entirely possible additional wage and benefit increases will make the problem worse.
In response to the changes in our economy and the restaurant industry in this area, I plan to shrink my territory from a 30 mile radius to a 15 mile radius (there will be a few exceptions). I also plan to add more family restaurants in the smaller territory. Inquiries from popular and well established restaurants are always welcome. And it will be necessary to tweak my advertising rates at least once each year.
